About Street Souls

A team with a heart for animals.

Our mission

STREET SOULS was founded on 23 October 2018. We cooperate with a Romanian animal shelter in Dej called ASOCIATA ANIMA PRO TERRA. On a voluntary basis the people of the shelter in Dej take care of abandoned and abused animals.

STREET SOULS tries to find loving homes in the region of Luxembourg for those animals. STREET SOULS is a team of 6 people: Nathalie, Isabelle, Max, as well as Dirk, Celia and Mandy, who took over this task with all their heart and soul.

Nathalie

Hello, I'm Nath

President

I was born in 1974 and have 2 sons. Before becoming a mother, I dedicated my life to dogs, so I graduated in dog psychology and worked as a dog trainer for several years. Since 2017 I have been helping my friends from ASOCIATIA ANIMA PRO TERRA in Romania because I saw the great need for strays in their country, and for this very reason, I founded our association STREET SOULS together with my friends.

Isabelle

Hello, my name is Isa

Vice-president

I was born in 1977 and am a mother of two girls. I have adopted dogs from the shelter in Dej a few times. Some of them spent their whole life in the shelter until I decided to give them a new home. One of my best decisions ever! I have been helping the Romanian team since 2017 and am happy to now have our own association STREET SOULS. Together we can achieve a lot and our goal is to find as many families as possible for our homeless dogs.

Max

Hello,

Treasurer

my name is Max and I was born in 1983. I discovered my love for dogs through my wife. Together we have already adopted 3 dogs from foreign animal welfare. I have been working as a treasurer for Street Souls since 2022.

Dirk

Hello, I'm Dirk

Active member

I didn't have a dog until I was 22, but now I can't imagine my life without dogs. My family has many dogs, they come from all over, from a Romanian killing center, from Spain, from the breeder... All of them fit together very well and it is our pleasure to take care of them. I decided to help dogs in need after witnessing for myself how a dog who was unhappy to death can turn into a joyful and happy companion.

Celia

Hello,

active member

I'm Celia and dogs have played a big part in my life since I was very young. I always knew that I wanted to be active in animal welfare, especially helping dogs. After adopting my dog from STREET SOULS, I quickly realised that I wanted to get even more involved in order to find as many lovely furry friends as possible a nice home.

Mandy

Hello,

active member

I am Mandy, born in 1988 and mother of 2 daughters. I was born with a love of animals, especially dogs, as a child. We always had dogs in our family. When I grew up and was able to stand on my own two feet, I decided to help a lovely furry friend from animal welfare, my current soul mate called Phoebe. After a tragic loss of our family dog in 2023, my husband and I decided to adopt another shelter dog into our family. Our second and current soul mate, named Tippex from Street Souls. One of my biggest ambitions has always been to work in animal welfare. After my trip to Dej, surrounded by many great and nice people, I quickly realised that I wanted to become an active member of Street Souls in order to help these lovely furry friends locally and/or find them a nice home here in Luxembourg, just as they deserve!

Anima Pro Terra

The ANIMA PRO TERRA association in Romania, with whom we cooperate, is a non-profit organization and was created in 2009 with the purpose of animal care and rescue. Their main activities include: monitoring and improving the living conditions of the dogs in their public shelter, supplementing the food for the over 160 dogs that constantly live in the shelter, ensuring medical care, promoting adoptions and supporting and educating people in order to prevent uncontrolled animal breeding.

Here an overview of their achievements

  • over 10 000 dogs and cats spayed
  • over 800 dogs and cats given for adoption
  • over 160 dogs in their daily care
